The Annual Convocation Function of St. Xavier’s Technical Institute was held on Monday, February 5, 2018. It was an occasion for the students to reflect on all the hard work as well as the fun they had in their three years of being with the institute diploma programme. It was also the day for them to receive their much awaited Diploma Awards and Certificates.
The Principal welcomed all the dignitaries and had words of appreciation and encouragement for our students. Fr. Francis de Melo S.J., Director, Xavier Institute of Engineering and St. Xavier’s Technical Institute, as we all know so well, is always full of inspiration and encouraging words for not only the students, but all those involved in the teaching learning process. He congratulated all the students and advised them to keep putting in dedicated efforts so as to become the best, and hold esteemed positions in a world of high technology.
Mr. Shirish G. Bhogle, Executive Director, HRD, R&D, IT – Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (R.C.F. Ltd) agreed to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation address. He emphasized that students, whether they go for higher education, or take up jobs, or become entrepreneurs, they have to always keep abreast of the new happenings in various areas of technology and should always have a competitive edge to be able to survive in the fast changing world of information and technology. He gave a classic example of the story of the monkeys and the cap seller, wherein both the new generation of monkeys as well as the cap seller, have heard the stories told by their forefathers and both sides are equally smart and knowledgeable about the latest developments, wherein there was no place for either of them to survive by fooling the other.
Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, Director, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (M.S.B.T.E.) was present as Guest of Honour and in his speech, advised the diploma graduates to be always in a learning mode and to always keep pace with the rapid changes and new developments in technology. He emphasized that attitudes which exclaim “that’s all right” and “things are going on” do not have any place for success in industry and the working world, and one need to move fast and reach out and grab the best and the latest developments happening around us. Knowledge of old technology may at the most provide a foundation, but one cannot survive lifelong by just sitting back and basking under the comfortable shade of past achievements.
Both the dignitaries presented and gave away the Diploma Certificates to the pass out students at the function, which ended with blessings and prayers conducted by Fr. Fabian Baretto S.J.
And here we have…all the pictures of all the excitement and happenings at the Convocation function.
